Our students join the English Language teachers of Sesto in the three main elementary schools of the area (De Amicis Elementary, Pascoli Elementary and Vittorino da Feltre Elementary) in the role of “Lettori Madrelingua” (native-speaker lecturers). These internships are coordinated with the Principal of Elementary Schools, authorized by the Sesto city council, and led by three teachers in the schools: Prof. Grechi, Prof. Fabrizi and Prof. Moscato. The English classes involved each semester are 4th and 5th grade classes for 10- and 11-year old children. Interns can choose to attend classes individually or in couples, for one or more hours a week, and they develop lesson plans and activities with the Sesto teachers at the beginning of each term. At the end of each semester, the Principal of the Sesto Fiorentino elementary school district issues a Diploma for our interns in recognition and appreciation for their work in the schools.

"Teaching at Scuola De Amicis was by far my favorite time of the week. The children were such a joy to work with and they helped me with my Italian while I helped them learn English. One of my favorite memories of teaching English to the 3rd grade students was teaching them the song "Eni Mini Miny Moe". I taught them the song the first day of class, in order to help them choose who would go first, but the song stuck and each week it would be the first thing we would do together. This is definatly something that everyone should do while they are studying at the Villa and I will never forget my little italian bambini!." Student Emily Enockson FALL 2006
