INTERNSHIPS

Students have reported in recent Program evaluations that the internships we have arranged for them have been valuable in giving them useful international experience in real-life situations, and that these internships led to a fuller and more satisfactory immersion in the language and culture of Italy. Moreover, during my conversations with our contacts in the local schools and at the City Hall in recent weeks, I have gained a clear sense that our interns have been highly appreciated and continue to make useful contributions to the local community while gaining valuable experience. This is certainly one of the goals of our internship program. It is a program that, while only involving a few hours of work each week (in order to avoid conflicts with the course schedule), has proven to be a popular and beneficial activity for our students, the vast majority of whom do in fact carry out internships during their time abroad (we have averaged around 40 student interns each semester during the past two years).
