INTERNSHIPS IN THE SESTO CITY HALL AND PUBLIC LIBRARY

On the basis of our strong relationship with Sesto's City Hall, we have been able to offer several internship opportunities to students. During the past two years, students have had the opportunity to work in the Public Library, the Sports Office, and the city’s office of Public Relations. In these internships, our students carry out a wide variety of tasks. At the Library, our students have helped organize English language readings for local children, they have translated library guides and helped in curating exhibits, and they have acted as important resources for foreign students using the library. In the Sports Office, interns have helped to organize the annual conferences on Sports and Education, including writing short articles about American sports culture for panel discussions. In the Public Relations Office, among other things, our student-interns have helped to re-design the city’s web-site and they have helped to produce the first English language guide to Sesto Fiorentino, published at the city’s expense. During the 2007-2008 academic year, six students chose to pursue internships each semester at the City Hall. All these forms of collaboration between our Program and the city of Sesto Fiorentino received good attention in the print media of Sesto Fiorentino and Florence.
